It’s not been the easiest of years for Kelly Neelan in Coronation Street, but there is ultimately more heartache ahead for the teen, as she finally finds out that dad Rick is dead.
Cast members of the ITV soap were spotted on location in Manchester, filming scenes for Rick’s funeral.
Millie Gibson, Mikey North and Samia Longchambon, who portray Kelly, Gary Windass and Maria Connor respectively, were all pictured.
Kelly is tearful, as she bids farewell to her dad in emotional sides at the cemetery, as Gary stands by her side.
Little does she know, however, that Gary is to blame for Rick’s demise.
The loan shark famously clashed with Rick several years ago, and a violent showdown in the woods ended with Rick meeting a violent end.
Kelly has spent years attempting to find out what happened to him, but has thus far failed to find any reliable information as to his whereabouts.
Rick’s body will, however, be found in upcoming scenes, after Laura (Kel Allen) launches an investigation to find out what happened to the dodgy character.
Laura, as viewers know, showed up on the cobbles earlier this year with tragic news, confirming that she is dying.
Kelly didn’t know what to make of her mum’s claims at first, but soon enough, she discovered that she was telling the truth, and thus she made it her mission to look after her.
Gary and Maria offered to assist, and even allowed Laura to move in.
Determined to stand by her daughter and do the right thing, Laura resolved to track down Rick so that she can ensure Kelly gets her hands on his money.
Her desire to find out the truth about Rick’s vanishing means that Gary is forced to answer some very tricky questions and when news reaches him of a new building development planned for the very place he buried Rick’s body, things take quite the turn.
Mikey North, who joined Corrie as Gary in 2008, was spotted filmed scenes on football grounds for the ITV soap last month.
Gary is seen looking shady in pictures taken during the shoot, as a security guard tells him to scram.
Soon, police are swarming the area of the building site nearby and they find a body, with forensic teams on standby.
It’s going to be an extremely tense couple of weeks for Gary, that’s for the sure!
Discussing the storyline in question, show boss Iain MacLeod told Metro.co.uk: ‘We’ve got the uber-complex Gary, who has finally turned his life around and is atoning for his sins with Kelly, only to find himself facing a final reckoning with the ghosts from his past.’
The question is: will Kelly find out that Gary is to blame for Rick’s death?
